Registration for the 2025-2026 will open beginning on March 10, 2025. Please see below for the required documents.

We are excited to announce that when our new pre-K center, Hedgesville Early Learning Academy (HELA), opens in January 2026, pre-K students from Hedgesville Elementary School, Orchard View Intermediate, and Spring Mill High School will be transferring to the new school! This is an incredible opportunity for our youngest learners to be part of HELA’s inaugural class, setting the foundation for a bright future in a brand-new learning environment.

More information will be shared with impacted families in the fall of 2025.

NOTE: If you do not upload the required documentation to the platform while registering, please email Jennifer Dieter at jdieter@k12.wv.us. You will NOT be able to go back into the platform once you submit your registration. Please include your child's name with all emails.

Pre-K placement is not based on the registration date.

All eligible students will be placed at a site based on the process listed below. The following process has been established by the Berkeley County Pre-K CORE Team and will be implemented for Pre-K site placement:

• Completed Registration

• Specialized Services

• Home School District

• Compliance Ratios

• Before/After Care

• Siblings

All students will be given a placement site.

Additional federal requirements may apply for Head Start sites.

Due to the large number of students, we cannot accept specific requests for placements. However, we can discuss any special circumstances you may encounter, please call our office for further inquiry.

After you have completed your registration, here's what to expect before the first day of school:

• Pre-K student attends a BCS Screening before the start date of school. (Optional, but highly recommended).

• Completed registrations received by July 31, 2025, will be reviewed and families will receive an email confirmation the week of August 4, 2025. Registrations received after July 31, 2025, or pending incomplete registrations will be processed the week of August 25, 2025, along with parent notification. The start date for these students will be the week of September 2, 2025.

• Families MUST confirm placement with a reply email to our office. No placements are finalized until we receive confirmation from the parent.

• Classroom teachers will contact families within five days prior to the first day of school. The following information is provided: drop-off/pick-up times and procedures/required supplies/general Pre-K Classroom details/answer parent questions.

• Orientation times are listed on the website. Follow your assigned school's schedule for dates and times. 

  Head Start will send placement and orientation information in the acceptance email. 

Registrations received after July 31, 2025, or pending incomplete registrations will be processed the week of August 25, 2025, along with parent notification. The start date for these students will be the week of September 2, 2025.
