Spring Mills High School Welcome Toolkit

Welcome to Our School

To the Spring Mills Family:

For the past eight years I have had the privilege of working with staff, parents, and the South Berkeley Community to provide an excellent educational experience for the students of Musselman High School. In that time, we have fostered a culture of learning where the student experience comes first and our teachers have taken great measures to ensure we maintain a standards-driven approach in the classroom. I understand the importance of collaboration, rigor, writing across the curriculum, and technology in our classrooms as a means of helping students develop skills to prepare them for the 21st Century workforce. I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to come to Spring Mills and work with such a wonderful group of students, parents, and education professionals. Working together I know we will provide an excellent academic experience for our students.

Building relationships with all stakeholders is a critical aspect of helping our students reach their potential and the “open door policy” I had as an assistant principal will continue to be implemented as I transition to this new role. I urge you to reach out to me, even for a simple and friendly introduction, so we can work together on accomplishing our goals. I look forward with eager anticipation to the wonderful things that we will be able to accomplish together by making sure that in everything we do, our students come first.

I have created an entry plan to ensure I am able to address the needs of Spring Mills in the least-disruptive manner possible. This plan is intended to be a working document and will guide my efforts on a daily basis as my commitment to listen and learn as I lead Spring Mills to build upon its recent history of academic success. You will notice much of my plan calls for conversations, which I hope will be open and honest, as well as visibility, which I hope will honor my commitment to being the instructional leader for all staff and students. As we join together on this journey, we will see many opportunities for growth and improvement. As we move forward I welcome your input as we continue our march towards being the best high school in all of West Virginia - Go Cardinals!

Sincerely,

Mark Salfia

Principal
