Registration Process

  • The course requests students submit in December are only requests, not an actual schedule.

  • Course requests do not guarantee students will be placed into any specific eight courses, in any particular order, with any specific teacher.

  • Course periods and teachers are not assigned to student course requests until May.

  • WE DO NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO SELECT SPECIFIC TEACHERS, CLASS PERIODS, OR LUNCHES.

  • Course conflicts naturally exist due to the WVEIS auto-schedule process. Counselors work to reduce the number of course conflicts by manually adjusting schedules to fit as closely as possible course requests. As long as a student has eight class periods that include the necessary graduation requirements for that year in the schedule, the schedule will be considered complete.

  • While all course request changes will be reviewed by counselors, not all classes will be possible to schedule due to course conflicts.

  • Certain courses have application processes. Failure to apply will cancel out a course request:

    • Driver's Education: Request form is open February 1-28 only. It will not be added later.

    • Yearbook (see Mrs. Cole)

    • Leadership (see Mrs. Leonard)

    • Broadcast Journalism (see Mrs. Cole)

    • WVU College Algebra/Trigonometry (in-building)

    • WVU Biology (in-building)

  • Students taking Dual Enrollment courses are required to submit a list of the classes they are registering for prior to the conclusion of the semester prior to their courses beginning. Dual Enrollment courses will be reflected in student schedules once scheduling is finalized during the beginning of the school year in August of 2023 once counselors have been provided with the student's confirmation of enrollment directly from the institution.

Final Notes:

  • A course change request Microsoft Form is made available in May and closes June 30th. No schedule change requests will be processed after June 30th.

  • Schedules are finalized in August when staff return from summer break and updated copies of schedules are handed out the first day of school. The schedule created the previous year and any courses you see in Schoology in the summer months are subject to change and will likely change several times. The schedule you receive the first day of school is final and is the one that must be followed.
