BERKELEY COUNTY — Berkeley County Schools recently highlighted the December Work Exploration students.

Four more students were recognized for their hard work and positive attitude, as they try different jobs throughout the community. Those students included Jacklyn (Jackie) Wenger, Dylan Henderson, Matias Penadillo-Quevedo, and Makayla Cook.

Wenger is a senior at Musselman High School and is in her second year in the Work Exploration program. She’s had the opportunity to work at the South Berkeley Library, Heritage Hall, Rankin Physical Therapy, ROCS, and Food Lion. Throughout each of these locations, Wenger has shown that she is a hard worker and dedicated to whatever she does.

“She is diligent and a hard worker who gives her all with each task,” Berkeley County Schools said in Wenger’s bio. “Jackie always has a positive attitude and is always eager to go to work. She is learning a variety of work skills at the businesses, which will help her with whatever career she chooses after graduation.”

Hedgesville High School’s Henderson is a senior. He currently works at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, where he helps the maintenance staff. He’s also worked at Bentley’s Pet Supply Store, where he stocked shelves, cleaned the store, and worked with animals. He also had the chance to shadow the owner at Davis Design in Martinsburg, where he got to learn more about graphic design firsthand. With his interest in graphic design, the Work Exploration program offered the perfect opportunity for Henderson to see what goes into the business.

Penadillo-Quecedo had the opportunity to work at McDonald’s. During his time there, he learned how to keep the dining room clean and stock the drink area. Penadillo-Quecedo is known at work for his positive attitude.

“He took pride in his work and really enjoyed his job,” Berkeley County Schools said in his bio. “Matias is a very hard worker and always has a pleasant attitude!”

Cook attends Spring Mills High School and is in her first year in the Work Exploration program. She works at a local dog groomer owned by Diana Flegel, where she gets to give dogs of all shapes and sizes a bath. According to her bio, Cook loves dogs, making this a great opportunity to experience what it would be like to work with them on a regular basis. Cook is known for being driven and is confident in her work.
