On November 8, 2023, North Middle School held it's annual Veterans Day event,  Several veterans from the community visited our school for the ceremony which included choir selections entitled "Warrior" and "Hero" under the direction of Ms. Melissa Bair. Ms. Mary Gail Updike, the student council advisor, and her students organized the event which also included several student speakers who shared poems and stories of Congressional Medal of Honor winners. For the rest of the school day, several of our veterans met with students in the library to share their experiences and stories to 6th grade social studies students. Ms. Katie Long's Family & Consumer Science classes prepared and served lunch to the veterans.

Veterans Day is a day to honor our veterans, but it is also an opportunity for our students to learn important life lessons about honor, sacrifice, freedom, and patriotism. We are indebted to the men and women who served our nation and preserved our freedom and we honor each and every member of our community who served in the armed forces.
