Our school counselors focus on academic, career, and personal development to ensure that every student benefits from a program that is comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, and developmental in nature. Mission & Vision

Mission Statement

The school counseling program at Musselman Middle is designed to provide a safe, supportive atmosphere where students can attain personal/social, academic and career success through a collaborative partnership with other educators, families, and the community.

We work hand in hand to nurture the physical, emotional, and intellectual dimensions that enhance life-long learning and foster a positive self-esteem that leads to becoming productive members of our community. 

Vision Statement

Musselman Middle students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to maximize their full potential and successfully reach their full potential while managing their lives as healthy, responsible, competent, and productive citizens.

The School Counseling program focuses on the West Virginia Student Success Standards. Students will learn how to increase interpersonal and social skills, refine learning and work.

Lauren Poe, 8th Grade & 7th Grade (A-K)

This will be my fourth year working as a School Counselor at NMS! This year I will be working with ALL 8th grade students and 7th graders, last name A-K. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Concord University where I also played collegiate softball for four years! I then received my Master of Arts in School Counseling from Marshall University in 2020. Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband and three-month-old daughter (and two cats!), my family and friends. If you ever have any questions, feel free to stop by my office located right across from the nurse. I am so excited for another year with the wonderful NMS staff!

Brianna Sigler, 6th Grade & 7th Grade (L-Z)

Hello! This will be my first year here at North Middle being a school counselor. I will be working with all 6th graders and 7th graders, last name L-Z. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with my bachelor's degree in psychology. I am presently working on my master's degree at Frostburg University. When I am not working, I spend time with my dog babies. My hobbies include body building, hiking, and exploring.

Colleen Kocik, School Social Worker

This will be my fifth year as the School Social Worker for North Middle School. I received my undergraduate in Psychology from the University of Maine at Orono and my Master of Social Work from West Virginia University. I am working toward my Ph.D. in Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. When I am not working or studying, I spend time with my husband and our blended family of nine children, two of whom are still school-aged. My youngest began her middle school journey this year and my older daughter is a junior at Martinsburg High School. My hobbies include hiking, kayaking, reading, skydiving, and traveling.

Jessica Wolfgang, School Social Worker

Hello! My name is Jessica Wolfgang, and I am the new part time social worker here at North Middle School. I have been a social worker for 20 years, working in Medical social worker previously. I hold my bachelor's in social work from Shepherd University. I live in Greencastle, PA, with my husband, my son, two daughters, and two dogs. I enjoy spending quality time with my family when I am not working. I am extremely excited about this new journey with the students. I will be available at North every Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday.
