Friends of Music has donated drum accessories to Martinsburg High School's marching band.
The accessories include a Yamaha tenor drum case, an Evans 14-inch snare drumhead pack, and stick bags for the drumline players.
The accompanying photo shows Jacob Cline, a member of the band's drumline, with the tenor drum case.
"The Bulldog Band is grateful for the generosity of Friends of Music" said band director Casey Adams. "These grant items allow for safe travel of instruments when the band participates in performances and competitions outside of school. Replacement items are always a blessing to the band program."
The donation, which is valued at $300, is part of a Friends grant program to support music education in Berkeley and Jefferson County schools. The grants typically involve instruments and music supplies not covered by regular school budgets. The grants are awarded annually based on applications submitted by music teachers.
The Friends of Music organization is a Shepherdstown-based, non-profit group founded in 1999 to support and promote musical excellence. It supports the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra, the only professional classical music orchestra in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, and one of only three such orchestras in the state.
