My name is Arlin Riggs and this is my second year at Hedgesville Middle School. School counseling was a career change for me and has always been my dream job. Previously I worked for an online university in enrollment management.

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Shepherd University in 2012, MA in Psychology from American Military University in 2017, and an MA in Education in School Counseling from Frostburg University in 2020.

My hope is for my school counseling program to reach all my students, inspiring them to become lifelong learners, creative thinkers, and caring responsible citizens. I want all my students to feel connected, safe, and happy at school so they can challenge themselves in ways they never thought possible.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my 2 daughters and our family pets.  We love to camping and kayaking in the warmer months.

Hello. My name is Mrs. Corea. This school year will be my second year at Hedgesville Middle School. I live in Hagerstown, Maryland. Before I came to work at HMS, I was at Montgomery College, Germantown, Maryland Campus and Waynesboro High School and Waynesboro Middle School in Pennsylvania.

I earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Loma Linda University and then ended up working part-time as a classroom aide and then a clerk in a school front office. It was during those jobs that I discovered I love working with students and teachers! So, I went back to school to get a Master’s in School Counseling and School Psychology. This school year will be my 23rd year working as a School Counselor.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters and my husband. Our family has a project working with an orphanage in Honduras. We love the children there and have watched many of them grow up. I love to hike, bike, and play in waterfalls!

I believe in education! I know it can change people’s lives. I have watched education open doors and pave the way for opportunities that greatly benefit people. I hope I can help my students feel safe and valued and motivated to continue on their educational journey.
